Houston Zoo is seeking a Paint Shop Supervisor to join the Facilities department. This position will be responsible for supervising, training, and coordinating daily activities of personnel engaged in light construction, maintenance, and painting. Promote excellent environmental services, provide facilities upkeep, and ensure the highest degree of project facilitation from beginning to end. Works alongside team members daily to ensure quality. Job Duties and Responsibilities Supervises/manages/directs the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel. Oversees inspection and maintenance of work vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and washing. Prepares and submits required reports and maintain budget goals. Inspect quality of work performed by crews and contractors in area of responsibility and prepare reports concerning the work. Assists with Interviews and selection of staff and conduct performance reviews. Trains personnel in work procedures and requirements Handles staff relations issues and communicates with upper management. Manages multiple projects at one time and must prioritize appropriately. Communicates with other departments on work plans. Ensures world class service is being delivered to zoo guests. Establishes work standards and procedures and evaluates results. Investigates and responds to guest complaints. Orders supplies, parts, chemicals, and other materials and maintain area within budget. Maintains various records and reports to monitor and track work activities. Responsible for assuring completion of teams assigned work orders in a timely fashion. Responsible for making sure all staff are in proper zoo uniform with name tags and work badges. Works closely with the Special Events staff to ensure all events are a success. Ensures staffs appropriate use of equipment and PPE. Contributes to saving animals in the wild through: reduction of waste, water and energy use and inspiring guests and staff to take wildlife protection actions. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.); or two to five years related supervisory experience in overall maintenance and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
