Ayres has been serving Colorado communities for over 25 years. Our team is seeking a passionate and ambitious entry-level hydraulic engineer willing to work on a variety of office and field functions to improve the places we live, work, and play. You’ll join a nationally recognized technical staff to perform challenging engineering studies and designs in Colorado, the mountain West, and the United States. If you are passionately interested in rivers and stormwater and want to be part of a like-minded team, this is a great position for you!

On any given day, you’ll:

  • Assist with the hydraulic design of bridges over rivers, including design of scour countermeasures for highway, bridge and flood control projects.
  • Analyze river and floodplain hydraulics and hydrology.
  • Design culverts and drainage facilities for highway projects.
  • Engage in field work that involves physical demands which could include being present in a construction environment, or in/near the water.
  • Assist with design of water, wastewater, urban stormwater and groundwater projects.
  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete individual tasks or assignments under the supervision of more experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Coursework or experience in hydrologic or hydraulic analysis, especially with two-dimensional hydraulic modeling software, HEC-RAS, WMS, EPA-SWMM or HEC HMS.
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Design experience in water resources, hydraulic or hydrologic engineering.
  • Experience applying HEC-RAS and/or two-dimensional hydraulic modeling on engineering projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil3D preferred along with ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS.

Our good-faith compensation approach is fair and equitable, and takes into consideration only permissible factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, training, skills, and experience, and geographic location where the work is performed. A salary range for this posting is $72000 - $91000. The foregoing salary range represents what the company believes, in good-faith, it will pay for the posted opportunity. The individual selected for this role will be evaluated with the compensation factors in mind and placed appropriately.
