We are seeking a motivated candidate who is willing to learn and join our current multi-disciplinary team in executing technically challenging site investigation and remediation projects for our energy clients primarily in northern Indiana.
Your ImpactThis position involves the implementation of project work associated with multimedia (air, water, soil, and biota) investigations and remediation. The position requires work at project sites, around construction equipment, drilling rigs, and environmental contamination. The selected candidate needs to be a self-starter, open to learn, adaptable to change, have a strong work ethic, and thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
This position offers the opportunity to learn from and grow with an established team and to address complex environmental challenges by executing the following roles/responsibilities:
1) The position will include approximately 70% field work and travel with overnight stays. Travel can include weeks at a time or be a few days per week.
2) Perform environmental sampling (e.g., surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) and oversee subcontractors in the field (e.g., drillers).
3) Complete detailed field notes and other forms of documentation to accurately capture field activities and observations.
4) Work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
5) Communicate with staff, management, clients, and regulators or on-site personnel effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
6) Assist and coordinate project planning with labs, drillers, and equipment vendors as needed.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications:
- B.S in Environmental Engineering or other related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental sampling, site investigation, or remediation.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Flexible to work outside normal business hours, at locations requiring overnight stays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to apply analytical / scientific thinking to define and solve problems.
- Ability to work well in a team environment with a willingness to follow detailed instructions and learn new skills.
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time either stationary or walking.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
- Experience in site investigations is required.
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using/maintaining field equipment (e.g., groundwater pumps, field meters).
- Regulatory experience in Indiana and Michigan.
