Position SummaryThis role is pivotal in managing the Energy Transition Act grant, designed to support students impacted by the closure of the San Juan Generating Station. The position involves overseeing the enrollment process for eligible students into approved training programs, utilizing expertise in career coaching and planning. This position will develop and implement engaging programs and events tailored to the needs of these students, ensuring they receive comprehensive support throughout their transition.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Implements and oversees the Energy Transition Act grant, ensuring alignment with established goals and standards.
- Maintains the processes and procedures for the pool of eligible students, as well as documenting data and outcomes utilizing state WCOS systems and SJC databases.
- Collaborates with campus resources to provide comprehensive support to program participants.
- Collaborates with Marketing & PR to create marketing campaigns and outreach strategies.
- Creates onboarding processes for eligible students.
- Coordinates with New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS)
- Provide leadership and support to the ETA team fostering a collaborative environment.
- Engage with employers and industry partners to create opportunities for participants.
- Assist with the tracking of program participants once they complete certificate programs.
- Oversee program budget ensuring resources are managed effectively.
- Coordinate career programming and events to support the professional development of the participants.
- Provide regular grants updates to the CSC&E Director.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director of the Center for Student Careers and Employment assigns work in terms of general instructions that require some use of judgement. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with established procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results of the work.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include the memorandum of agreement between SJC and the NMDWS and program and college policies and procedures. These guidelines are somewhat clear and specific. This position suggests procedures and guidelines for implementation.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of managing and implementing the initial project as well as meeting established goals. Strict timelines regarding the setup of the program as well the variety of tasks to be managed contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight to the ETA grant to meet the grant objectives and goals. Success in this position contributes to a positive outcome for students and community members who will utilize the program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
- Work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position will have direct supervision of Academic Navigators (2), and a Data/Budget Analyst (1).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree and/or related work experience in career services, business, public administration, social work, human resources, or a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with five or more years of related work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
- Valid driver's license, some travel for employer meetings or community events is required.
