DescriptionRinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a skilled
Drainage Engineer with
4-7 years of experience to join our dynamic team in Manassas, Richmond, Virginia Beach and Waynesboro.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing drainage systems for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with
VDOT and federal guidelines to improve roadway safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Hydrologic and Hydraulic Design: Design stormwater management systems, culverts, storm drains, and other drainage structures for roadways, highways, and bridges, adhering to VDOT standards.
- VDOT Project Management: Manage drainage aspects of transportation projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion while meeting VDOT specifications.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure that drainage designs comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including water quality and stormwater management standards.
- Erosion and Sediment Control: Design and oversee the implementation of erosion and sediment control measures on construction sites, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with civil and transportation engineers, contractors, and VDOT personnel to integrate drainage designs with overall project objectives.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed engineering reports, drainage calculations, and technical documents for VDOT project submission.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-7 years of experience in drainage design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with the intent to obtain PE licensure within 1 years.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, StormCAD, and MicroStation.
- Solid understanding of VDOT drainage design standards, regulations, and processes.
- Experience with erosion and sediment control design and stormwater management best practices.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and preparing technical documentation.
