POSITION SUMMARY

This position is a temporary, seasonal position from time of hire to May 2025. The Recycling & Sustainability LTE aids with education and outreach efforts for the recycling & sustainability program on behalf of Eau Claire County. Performs duties related to social media and news media content, educational materials and events, community forums, and other outreach events; related work as assigned.

This position is limited to approximately 15 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Represent the Recycling & Sustainability program at community events through tabling, presentations, workshops, and/or community forums. 
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop accessible and inclusive resources for businesses and residents. 
  • Work with K-12 schools through the Schools Fight Food Waste grant program to implement composting in schools. 
  • Engage with community members, stakeholders, and youth to expand the program’s reach and work toward the goal of educating the community about the program. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from high school or enrolled and or completed a 2- or 4-year program in communications, sustainability, environmental sciences, or other related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties. 
  • Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000. 

DESIRED TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in communications, education, sustainability, and/or solid waste management.
