SummaryNew hires are eligible to telework after six (6) months of employment following a satisfactory performance appraisal and subject to department approval. The hiring range is $56,607.60 - $63,626.98/annually, commensurate with experience.The Department of Public Works - Facilities is currently recruiting for a Recycling Citizen Response Coordinator to manage the citizen response program for the Environmental Resources Division. Duties include researching and responding to citizen requests, emails, calls, and comments with verbal and written responses made in a timely manner. Shares Charles County Department of Public Works Environmental Resources news and information with the public. Supports programs overseen by Division Chief, Superintendent, and Managers. Assists with the development and implementation of the Division's outreach and education efforts. Assists with new promotional campaigns and strategies; writes, maintains, and updates the County's social media sites; and helps plan and implement public information events and special projects.
Essential Job Functions - Responds to inquiries from internal customers and the public via email, online, and telephone.
- Works with Recycling and Litter Control Managers to resolve service issues and complaints.
- Ensure inquiries, concerns, and complaints are resolved timely and adequately documented. Coordinates with Commissioner's Office personnel on issues that are requested by or initiated through the Commissioner's Office.
- Assists Recycling and Litter Control Managers with database updates for recycling and litter abatement programs.
- Writes and organizes the dissemination of public information for the Environmental Resources Division. Coordinates with Media Services to promote programs and services.
- Assists Division Chief, Superintendent, and Managers with promotional flyers, media requests, and public relations outreach.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Division's outreach and education efforts.
- Assists with developing and executing new promotional campaigns and strategies based on Division goals and objectives.
- Prepares oral or written presentations. Leads or participates in meetings or on committees as needed or requested.
- Acts as a website administrator for the Department of Public Works/Facilities and updates the website as needed.
- Prepares, develops, and coordinates content for the Division's website, making sure that the web content remains timely, relevant, and engaging. Recommends changes, upgrades, and new features for the site.
- Develops online and digital media, including social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others.
- Writes content, updates, maintains, and monitors the Division's social media posts for review.
- Proofreads and edits print and online materials for adherence to the Charles County Style Guide rules and accuracy of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
- Assists with planning and coordinating special projects, displays, and other outreach events.
- Takes photographs and maintains department photo library.
- Performs data entry, compiles information, and sends monthly reports as directed.
- Monitors and analyzes market and social media trends.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED). Four (4) years of administrative experience to include project coordination, communicating and writing for public audiences, and customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Licenses or Certifications:Must possess a valid driver's license.

Additional InformationPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work requires periods of light physical activity, including occasional lifting of supplies for special events. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
