Title: O&M Chemical Systems Engineer

Job Summary and Description:
The Facilities Chemical Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for working in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide detailed designs and construction specifications for the maintenance of site Facilities systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality:
• Completes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies
• Stops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identified
• Utilizes and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performed
• Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations including PPE, CoHE (lockout /tagout) and chemical safety
• Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with stakeholders
• Actively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hours)
• Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches
• Always wears appropriate PPE, per JHA, supervisor, EHS professionals, and/or job designation
• Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environment
• Uses proper lifting techniques and works in an ergonomically correct manner
• Follows proper change management practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
• Drives quality improvement initiatives in their area to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savings
• Operates and maintains equipment and tools within manufacturer's and company guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
• Ensures area-specific procedures and documents exist and submits updates to content when needed
Communication & Collaboration:
• Ensures appropriate communication with facilities and manufacturing stakeholders
• Partners with key stakeholders to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metrics
• Partners with stakeholders to resolve equipment/process issues and maximize system stability
• Collaborates with areas leaders to create personal performance and development goals
• Communicates proactively with leaders and stakeholders on the daily priorities and issues
• Attends and participates in meetings and provides relevant technical input
• Partners with area leaders and stakeholders to gather input for area improvement
• Communicates changes made to equipment and follows business rules for change control
• Partners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementation
• Proactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost moves
• Coordinates with stakeholders and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates
• Broadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignments
• Listens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides feedback for technical innovation
• Uses questioning skills to better understand customer needs
• Interprets customer needs to identify potential opportunities

Project Management/Planning:
• Uses a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and manage projects
• Manages projects to ensure deliverables are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget
• Tracks actions and provides escalation path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time
• Defines and leads complex, multi-disciplinary projects of critical importance to Micron
• Collaborates with stakeholders on the design and coordination of projects
• Prepares project scope and ensures necessary input from appropriate stakeholders
• Ensures that scope meets requestor needs
• Collaborates with consultant resources
• Coordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actions
• Provides support for the installation or commissioning of new facilities infrastructure
• Provides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
• Reviews design packages
• Follows change management procedures
• Works with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
• Supports equipment startup and commissioning
• Helps to shape strategic decisions and provides technical support
• Collaborates with Procurement, Manufacturing and appropriate stakeholders on new tool/system purchases
Technical/Data Analysis:
• Analyzes systems data to make critical decisions, improve performance, gain efficiency, and drive cost savings
• Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
• Provides troubleshooting support for complex problems and addresses root cause
• Performs problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies
• Supports risk and/or failure mode and effects analysis
• Eliminates single points of failure and mitigates risk
• Provides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sites
• Provides engineering support to ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Identifies and develops a strategy for equipment/processes that streamlines PM frequencies and effectiveness
• Partners with key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for equipment/process efficiencies
• Works with Manufacturing on excursion root cause identification, elimination, and prevention
• Supports corporate requests and assignments
• Supports benchmark activities on operational, procedural, engineering, facilities systems
• Maintains applicable discipline knowledge, such as chemical theory, instrumentation control theory, high purity principles, etc.
• Maintains equipment support knowledge, such as hazard protocol, leak detection, etc.
• Drives a culture of TPM including TPM metrics, CIP items, MTAGs, and procedures
• Applies standard engineering principles and practices
• Utilizes administrative and engineering databases in support of job tracking, engineering data, capital equipment facilitation, and critical system loads and capacities
• Performs research and development on emerging facilities technologies to support cutting-edge semiconductor processes
• Incorporates safety controls in every aspect of the design, enhancement, and modification process

Education and Experience:
• Required: Minimum - Relevant degree or appropriate certification/licensing; Engineering, Semiconductor, Chemistry, or related field of study
• Preferred: Master's Degree; Engineering-Chemical, related field of study
• Preferred: Three or more years of experience
