Job Description Wildlife Biologist 9-P11In short: We are looking for a person who is open minded, has a positive attitude, a strong interest in collaborating with people, and has technical analysis skills. In this position, you will support landscape-scale conservation across the southern Lower Peninsula of Michigan for the Wildlife Division. You will develop practical analyses to support planning and decisions. In detail: This position supports strategic and operational planning and evaluation efforts in the Southeast and Southwest Regions of the Wildlife Division and is a member of the Planning and Adaptation Section. In detail: This position is responsible for wildlife and habitat resource planning at the landscape scale in the Southeast and Southwest Regions of the Wildlife Division and integrating statewide goals into operational plans. The position provides technical expertise on rare species and natural communities at a variety of geographic scales. This position conducts wildlife and habitat assessments, including spatial analyses. In collaboration with staff across the Division, this position supports adaptive management and the implementation of the Wildlife Division's strategic plan, the GPS, and other Division and Department plans. This position supports regional supervisors and managers in setting direction within the regions and implementing landscape-scale habitat conservation and management. This position also collaborates with other land and resource management Divisions, other Departments, Federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations on wildlife habitat issues at multiple geographic scales to support Division priorities. This position is also responsible for representing the Division on workgroups and committees that focus on habitat planning and management, and other Division and Department priorities.
Required Education and ExperienceEducationPossession of a bachelor's degree in natural resource science or biological science with at least 8 semester (12 term) credits in wildlife biology and 16 semester (24 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: botany, ecology, ecosystem management, entomology, natural resources GIS applications, mammalogy, ornithology, wildlife management, zoology, conservation biology, human dimensions of fish and wildlife management, evolutionary biology, forest resources, environmental science, or natural resources law and policy.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between
15 and 35 personal days and

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take
12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
