Responsibilities
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for developing policies and programs in support of environmental initiatives ensuring effective and efficient compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and agencies.
- Develops and implements site specific environmental policies and programs in accordance with governmental and company guidelines.
- Develops site specific training materials for environmental programs.
- Conducts environmental training in accordance with company requirements.
- Supports and monitors incident reporting and investigations.
- Inspects facility to identify existing or potentially hazardous conditions.
- Recommends corrective/preventive measures to reduce risk
- Promotes a safe working environment and increases safety awareness.
- Reviews environmental data/information for quality, accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and lead the implementation of environmental compliance regulations. This includes state regulation interpretation, data tracking, reporting, permitting, testing and training.
- Supports compliance with the following environmental regulation programs
- Air (Title V, MACT, GHG)
- EPCRA/TRI
- Waste management (RCRA /Solid Waste/DOT)
- Water /Wastewater (CWA, SPCC, Wastewater treatment)
- Emergency response
- Manage contract and contractors responsible for waste management and industrial wastewater pretreatment operations
- Develop and implement strategies to meet regulatory requirements
- External regulatory agency liaison.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in a related field - Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Engineering (other than environmental) or other equivalent related degree
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in environmental compliance or equivalent work experience.
- Manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Strong computer skills. Proficiency with the use of MS Word, PowerPoint and/or Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills with the ability to work with and train others.
- Detail orientated, flexible and quick learner
- Must possess effective written & verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated to do the right thing with little to no upper management involvement.
- Well-organized. Able to prioritize and balance multiple projects /assignments / tasks.
- Willing to work outside and on the manufacturing floor.
