Job DescriptionThe Environmental team is part of Chubb Environmental Claims and provides specialized claim handling of first- party and third-party voluntary pollution claims. Environmental Claims is part of Chubb Severity North America Claims.
This is a hybrid opportunity, 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist team members in developing and executing claim resolution strategies.
- Train, develop and manage a team of handlers who are newer to the insurance industry, by developing and executing on individual professional development plans for each team member.
- Recognize significant potential exposures on claims and prepare appropriate alerts to senior managers and our internal business partners.
- Conduct monthly self-audits against Best Practices standards.
- Provide exceptional service to our internal and external business partners.
- Analyzes and identifies coverage issues timely coverage and communicates coverage positions to appropriate parties.
- Authorize reserve and settlement authority to team members.
- Directs and closely monitors cases with financial impact in team through trial/resolution.
- Timely sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to management.
- Travels to conferences, mediations and trials as necessary. Travel ranges from approximately 5% to 15%, but it could be more as dictated by business needs.
Qualifications- In depth knowledge of environmental and casualty.
- 5 years of direct claims handling experience.
- Experience in leadership and management.
- Environmental specialists strongly preferred.
- An ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
- Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; and an ability to deal with customers and business partners in a professional manner.
- Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of complex issues.
- Demonstrated strong relational skills, particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations.
- A law degree is not necessary but recommended.
The pay range for the role is $124,000 to $168,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
