Director, Strategy - The Traveler Business Team has a mission to deliver the most convenient, rewarding, and memorable ways for people to travel and explore the world. This division has responsibility to build and drive the growth of our global consumer business across our Expedia Vrbo, and Portfolio brands, and across all our lines of businesses including Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Air, Car, Packages, and Insurtech.
We are looking for a Strategy Director to join at Expedia Group. You will play a critical role in shaping 's strategy, which is one of the largest brands in the Expedia portfolio with a fiercely loyal customer base. Your responsibilities will be to identify medium to long-term strategies for as well as working with senior leaders to drive profitable and sustainable growth through financial planning and forecasting for multiple markets across various regions.
What you'll do:- Strategy Development: Define and operationalize key medium- and long-term strategic initiatives to improve consumer performance and competitive positioning.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities and develop perspectives on implications and actions for the traveler.
- Monitor the traveler ecosystem to identify market trends.
- Identify business/value driver opportunities and risks.
- Assess strategic options and work with critical stakeholders to develop the business case.
- Communicate findings to senior stakeholders and build buy-in.
- Financial Planning: Partner with finance on annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Leadership, Global Markets Leadership, Marketing, Product, Supply, and Finance teams to ensure alignment of revenue goals.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics to drive informed business decisions.
- Performance Metrics: Regularly evaluate performance against established financial KPIs.
- Global Alignment: Foster consistency and alignment across diverse markets.
Who you are:- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategy and financial planning within consumer industries (ideally within travel and/or tech).
- Strategic mindset: Ability to think long-term, anticipate market trends, and adapt to changing business landscapes.
- Proven experience identifying and evaluating key market trends, opportunities, and risks.
- In-depth business case development leveraging analysis in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to turn strategy into business results and drive growth.
- Global exposure: Experience working across diverse markets and understanding regional nuances.
- Financial acumen: Strong understanding of financial metrics, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Development and execution of strategies at top-tier consulting firms is strongly preferred.
