Job Summary: The Solar Installer will assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires travel. Responsibilities and Duties: Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs and other structures. Configures PV systems based on site conditions, customers' needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid. Follows building standards and codes when installing panels and support structures. Inspects electrical installation and wiring. Tests operating voltages; calibrates to ensure systems are within acceptable power limits. Assembles solar array racking, mounting hardware, properly seal all roof penetrations, and installs all related equipment. Performs routine maintenance on PV systems. Assists in training and instruction to installation team crew members. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Basic knowledge of PV equipment and installation, preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment, preferred. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read building plans, preferred. Ability to read equipment manuals. Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational or technical school training preferred. One to Three years solar experience required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work at great heights. Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, etc)
