This position is located at Volk Field CRTC in Camp Douglas, WI.
Days/hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Volk Field is one of only four Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Centers in the nation, and the only one that does not share its airfield with a civilian airport. The Training Center Mission is to provide a year-round integrated training environment (airspace, facilities, equipment) for units to enhance their combat capabilities and readiness.

Position Summary Under general supervision of the Deputy Base Civil Engineer, this civilian position manages and coordinates various environmental programs for Volk Field Air National Guard Base (ANGB) and Hardwood Air to Ground Range complex. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and Department of Defense environmental laws, rules, and regulations. This position
conducts audits and inspections, maintains plans and programs, provides guidance and technical assistance related to environmental compliance, responds to spills and other environmental incidents or emergencies, and performs various administrative tasks to enhance program effectiveness. This position is responsible for budget preparation for the Environmental Quality funds issued annually to assist Volk Field and Hardwood Range in maintaining environmental compliance.
Salary Information Starting pay is between $35.50 and $38.00 / hr.
This position is in the 15/03 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details This position has the following conditions of employment:
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment
- In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check
- In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information
- Must have the ability to bend and lift, with the aid of equipment, 55 and 85 gallon drums containing potentially hazardous liquid and solid waste.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment e.g. filters, respirators, skin/eye protection.
Qualifications Candidates who meet minimum
all of the qualifications will have experience with:
- Federal and/or State of Wisconsin environmental laws and regulations
- Managing environmental compliance programs and/or environmental budgets
- Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
In addition to the minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have the following preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with 5 or more Federal or State of Wisconsin environmental programs
- Experience enforcing compliance with multiple environmental programs
- College degree related to environmental sciences
