POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for CDP Energy Management (EM) strategy, programs, activities and staff. Recommends and pursues energy-related equipment fieldlings, EM goals; Supervises energy conservation, energy optimization and other energy-related initiatives; Oversees energy performance tracking, analysis and reporting. Indirectly manages EM budgets. Collaborates across departments and engages energy consultants, utility providers and contractors to plan and execute energy projects and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Strategy - Develop and communicate EM strategy and plans. Directs CDP's centralized energy management programs and activities aimed at cost savings and regulatory compliance. Assists in development of sustainability reports and other strategic efforts involving energy use.
- Control - Responsible for system integration with company network and systems supporting building operations. Supervises staff responsible for implementing changes to control systems. Monitors system performance and communicates performance issues and efficiency opportunities to the field. Report to Management as required.
- Advise - Advise and assist field teams that are responsible for managing, operating and maintaining building components to achieve energy goals. Advises company leadership and staff of legislation, regulations and industry and government trends.
- Budget - Indirectly manages EM budget through third party consultants to include tracking energy consumption, costs and budget forecasting. Work with energy procurement consultant to recommend commodity purchasing schemes. Recommends and applies for grants and incentives.
- Technical - Provides technical expertise in capital improvement and energy conservation project planning and assist field offices in procurement and execution. Provide input on scopes of work, plans and specifications for new construction and tenant improvement projects to maximize mechanical system performance and efficiency.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with external agencies and contractors for energy-related data collection and reporting.
- Stay current on industry best practices, energy management, and operational controls.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's or Master's or other advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or other relevant technical field.
Certifications & Licenses - Professional Engineer License preferred, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP), Building Operator Certifications (BOC), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Other relevant credentials preferred.
Professional Experience - Minimum of 10 years' experience managing energy consumption and operating costs for commercial office buildings and/or data centers. Analyzing and evaluating data using software and data management tools. Experience with budgeting, procurement, contract documents, and financing, to include grant programs. Ability to read, analyze and interpret building designs and construction documents, technical manuals, equipment specifications and government regulations.
Computer Skills - Energy Management Systems, Device-to-System software such as Niagra, word processing, data base (Sharepoint)

Other Requirements - Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal. Supervisory experience with small or specialized teams.
