The Solar Electrical Technician is responsible for assisting with the performance all O&M PV plant maintenance operations, to include but not limited to testing, maintenance, and repair of all major and balance-of- system components utilized in PV power generation. This individual will receive comprehensive on-the- job, classroom-based, and online training pertaining to all aspects of PV fundamentals, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of small commercial and utility-scale PV systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Safety First! Uphold a culture of safety by ensuring strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Strata Solar Services safety protocols. Technicians must undergo comprehensive training and demonstrate full comprehension before commencing any on-site activities.
• Develop a profound understanding of electrical theory to interpret design drawings and promptly identify and escalate any electrical safety hazards.
• Execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, focusing on enhancing plant performance and operational efficiency.
• Work on and around energized electrical parts. Handle energized electrical components in accordance with established electrical codes and company policies, following rigorous training sessions.
• Utilize a range of tools including multimeters, low resistance Ohmmeters, PV Analyzers, IR thermometers, IR cameras, and hand-held irradiance meters for electrical maintenance duties.
• Conduct pre-job safety briefings and ensure compliance with all safety procedures before commencing work.
• Attend training sessions at local and remote facilities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Travel to remote sites within the operating fleet to provide assistance and ensure successful project completion.
• Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to maintain compliance with electrical isolation protocols.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose common Direct Current (DC) faults within the PV plant.
• Complete and submit all assigned inspection and testing data promptly and accurately.
• Document all completed work using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other organizational platforms.
• Extract data files, troubleshoot communication issues, and operate monitoring software using PCs or tablets. Provision replacement devices and share photos via service tickets.
• Conduct basic networking, such as changing IP addresses on laptop to connect with equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:• High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience working with energized AC or DC systems, or other relevant experience preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate basic working knowledge of electrical theory & PV power generating system fundamentals.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
• Aptitude for learning and understanding operation of various testing equipment, tools and procedures utilized in the maintenance of PV power generation systems.
• Ability to collaborate and coordinate well with peer Technicians and other personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications to include but not limited to MS Word and Excel, as well as an ability to learn new computer programs without difficulty.
• Ability to operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization's policies, procedures, and vision.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment: - Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and be able to travel occasionally to remote project sites.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a shift.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend.
- Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs overhead repeatedly.
- 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction and ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
- Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
