Who We AreDescription GENERAL:
Responsible for overall management and technical activities associated with Moderns State/National certified testing laboratories, which conduct dairy, food, environmental and other testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize all equipment and perform all tests within the laboratory certification scope.
- Manage laboratory testing activities and develop new process methods, both directly and through staff, to achieve growth and profit goals.
- Supervise testing, support, and maintenance activities to achieve division goals.
- Maintain all capital equipment and supplies relating to testing for long term productivity.
- Participate in the selling of testing services by calling customers to solicit business, solving problems, handling complaints, and assisting in the collection of past due accounts.
- Oversee purchasing activities related to general activities and for budgeting operational costs.
- Manage staff and operations to insure compliance with regulations and to maintain lab certifications and accreditations.
- Continually improve quality and productivity, as well as maintain and increase sales with existing and new customers.
- Report to the Materials Research Division Manager regarding all general activity, results, problems, recommendations, and other issues.
- Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Must have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or related technical discipline and five years of progressive experience in a materials testing or laboratory leadership position. Depending on the specific laboratory certifications, more advanced education may also be required. Must be proficient with current computer software.
