Job DescriptionThe Chemical Engineering Intern (summer '24) will contribute to SRNL's environmental protection mission by applying science and engineering to accelerate closure and reduce risk at active cleanup sites for the Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM). The intern will assist in preparation and/or analysis of various simulated waste matrices in support of the Department of Energy Environmental Management directives. Work scope may include contributions to process support of operating facilities at the Savannah River Site and throughout the DOE complex to include chemical characterization, interrogation of chemical reaction thermodynamic or kinetic modeling, optimization, integration, and/or process troubleshooting of current site or DOE-complex processes.
Interns are provided an exciting learning environment to develop into the next generation of professional scientists and engineers, explore the unknown, and make impactful discoveries.
Internships typically run for a 10-week period.

ResponsibilitiesSuccessful Candidates will:
- Have educational or research laboratory experience.
- Think critically, analyze data, and integrate these skills into effective experimental design, execution, and reporting.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: - HS (or Equiv) + 1 or more yrs of university education
- Be pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher and submit a transcript prior to hiring.
