SpecPro Professional Services, LLC. (SPS) is seeking an individual experienced in watershed management and natural resource compliance. This individual will provide technical support to assist in development of management plans, field data collection, and data analysis associated with water quality and watershed management.
Responsibilities include:
- Inspect streams to identify degraded streambanks, damaged riparian buffers, and other sources of erosion.
- Create maps and GIS databases.
- Conduct surface water monitoring (chemical, physical and biological).
- Conduct biological assessments in accordance with state and federal guidelines (macros, fish).
- Conduct wetlands determinations and delineations supporting NEPA and Clean Water Act 404 permitting requirements as needed.
- Maintain water quality databases.
- Invasive plants control.
- Update and make recommendations to the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree is required in Fisheries, Biology, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of Clean Water Act, Department of Defense environmental programs, Army policy and guidance, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
- Familiar with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and ESRI software.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Fisheries management.
- Experience collecting and identifying fishes and aquatic macroinvertebrates common to the Southern U.S.
- Experience with backpack electrofisher, seine nets, and other aquatic sampling gears.
