DescriptionIdaho National Laboratory is hiring a R&D Engineer-Nuclear, Mechanical, or Design Engineer to work in our Fuel Cycle Science and Technology Division. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
As a member of the Fuel Cycle Science and Technology Division, you will contribute to delivering nuclear fuel cycle solutions that enable the deployment of advanced nuclear energy concepts through innovative aqueous and pyrochemical separations technology development and demonstration, nuclear material and isotope recovery and availability, waste and used fuel management, proliferation risk reduction, and the development of cutting-edge testbed environments.
You will learn and perform nuclear, mechanical, and design engineering tasks associated with used fuel management projects, molten salt systems, fuel cycle material separations, used nuclear fuel facilities, spent fuel pools, canister/cask handling procedures, packages, and ancillary technologies and advanced fuel types (e.g., TRISO, metallic, molten salt).
Responsibilities Include: - Contribute expertise to a broad range of advanced nuclear reactor and spent nuclear fuel related projects.
- Contribute to a range of nuclear fuel cycle design and development activities.
- Publish work in various customer-required reports and peer-reviewed journal publications.
- Involvement in the preparation, peer review, and delivery of program plans, oral presentations, and other activities related to INL spent fuel programs.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program, or Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program. Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information: - The pay range for this position is: Level #430 $63,528.00 - $130,284.00 / Level #440 $75,804.00-$155,496.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
