About the Position/Essential Functions: Installs, repairs, and maintains electrically powered systems and equipment for Facilities Services at Lewis & Clark College. LEVEL I DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Performs highly skilled maintenance and repair to electrical systems and other building components to ensure such equipment is operating as specified, in but not limited to the following specific areas: Branch circuits and sub panel installations Ridged, EMT, And PVC conduits Light fixtures, motors, fans, equipment, appliances, and associated devices Examines and tests elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes. As required, estimates materials needed and records time and materials expended on each work order Reads and understands blueprints and electrical schematics. Assists in conducting inspections of work performed by electrical contractors. Keeps accurate records of material, labor and equipment costs on assigned tasks. Works day, swing, graveyard, or alternate shifts as required. Responds to on campus emergency calls during and after hours. Operates and uses all tools, machinery, and equipment in a safe and professional manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Requires the use of proper PPE to meet OSHA requirements, including but not limited to: negative pressure respirators, medical clearance, respirator fit testing, maintenance, protection, storage, and proper usage. Requires meeting all applicable OSHA requirements per policy, procedures, and practices (such as but not limited to: lockout/tagout, ladder safety, fall protection, machine usage, forklift usage, confined spaces, hazardous communication, respiratory usage program, and other OSHA requirements applicable to the position.) LEVEL I REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work effectively as an individual or in a team, as well as with diverse groups. Essential knowledge in electrical systems maintenance, codes, methods, and materials. Ability to use software programs related to work order processing and ordering parts Ability to perform the physical tasks required to carry out the job responsibilities. Ability to maintain a valid Oregon driver's license and meet College vehicle insurance requirement. Ability to read and write in the English language. Basic computer proficiency with web browsers, word processors and computerized maintenance management systems. Strong customer service skills. Strong interpersonal skills. LEVEL I QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS: High School diploma or equivalent Possession of a valid Oregon General Journeyman Electricians License or greater. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyman electrician LEVEL II DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All Level I duties and responsibilities Trains staff on proper methods of electrical repair and installation. Performs or controls all electrical work on campus. LEVEL II REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: All level I knowledge, skills, and abilities Knowledge of secondary electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits. Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems. Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce electrical safety procedures. Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment. Ability to perform, or control the making of any electrical installation. LEVEL II QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS: All Level I qualifications Possession of a valid Oregon General Supervising Electricians License. Work Schedule: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) 37.5 hours/week Pay Rate: Hourly $41.99 (Teamster Union) Exempt: No Benefits Eligible: Yes PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work in a stooped, kneeling, crouched, or squatting position continuously. Must be able to work with arms extended overhead or in a front and supporting the weight of eight pounds continuously. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pound weight repetitively over one-half periods. Must be able to lift and carry a twenty-five pound weight repetitively and continuously. Must be able to manipulate effectively the tools and equipment used in the engineering tasks. The word continuously means that the work may be carried out over consecutive eight-hour shifts with the one half-hour rest period med-shift, a fifteen minute rest period two hours after the start of shift, and a fifteen minute rest period two hours before the end of shift. Workers working under the conditions described in one and two above, are expected to vary their positions frequently or to pause frequently to stretch in order to avoid fatigue and injury.
