Job SummarySummary: As an Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operational needs of the EVS department of a 254 bed hospital. You will serve as a liaison between administration and unit departments and provide the highest possible level of service. You will have oversite of the evening and 3rd shift staffing, operational quality assurance inspections, patient engagement, patient throughput management, scheduling, payroll, and ensuring scope of work is consistently met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for department's financial data and statistics and monitoring of unit expenditures
- Coordinate the tasks of approximately 35 hourly associates and assist in training and development
- Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget
- Coordinates housekeeping activities with other departments
- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
- Establishes work standards and work flow, and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
- Encourages, recognizes, and mentors staff creativity and innovation
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies while being proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives
- Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans
- Reads, develops, and administers Total Quality Management process
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications: - 3+ years of environmental services or housekeeping experience including at the management/supervisory level
- Strong leadership skills, conflict resolution, time management, attention to detail, prioritizing, thoroughness of cleaning, and ability to make informed decisions
- Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service
- Ability to work some weekends and holidays according to the rotational schedule
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations
- Ability to use a participative approach to managing and leading staff
- Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts
- Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions
- CRCST or other applicable sterile processing certification is preferred
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
