Job Overview
The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for administering, maintaining, and improving the safety management system of the facility as the site lead. In this hands-on role, this person will execute the strategic and tactical aspects of EHS programs such as Lock out Tagout, Chemical Management, Fall Prevention, Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Mobile Equipment, and Lifting Equipment. Be a technical leader on Job Safety Analysis, conduct methodical Incident Investigations, and facilitate training of all facility personnel while adhering to regulatory (e.g. OSHA and EPA) requirements for operation. Provide support and oversite for other local facilities on a project basis.
A Day In The Life
Champion EHS objectives and change management with support of the company and senior leaders.
Frequently engage all departments to ensure EHS considerations are well adopted and maintained.
Assist with corporate initiatives and projects on an as needed basis.
Develops & trains all employees, new hires, and contractors on EHS requirements and corporate initiatives.
Provides technical guidance and recommendations regarding health, safety, and environmental regulations with support of internal & external resources groups.
Compiles information to complete government compliance reports to meet set deadlines for items such as Safety Data Sheets, Form R, Tier II, Emissions, Wastewater, and Hazard waste generation.
Identifies proactive solutions and suggestions for improvement to leadership team.
Performs Job Safety Analysis & guides daily Gemba Walks for routine audits and hazard identification.
Responds to on-site emergencies and incidents, including those that may occur during off-hours.
Conduct Incident Investigations using Root Cause methodology and present findings to senior leaders.
Works closely with Facility Managers, Human Resources, & Manufacturing team.
Monitors the manufacturing floor daily to ensure all activity meets safety and environmental compliance.
Executes and inputs all related data into safety management software (Benchmark).
What will help you thrive in this role?
Minimum of four (4) years in the EHS field with 2-4 years overseeing compliance reporting.
Skills necessary to read, analyze, and interpret general regulations, procedures, and manuals.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks and projects while being detail oriented.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal) at all levels required.
Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills needed
Features strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Digital Safety Management System experience needed with Benchmark experience a plus.
Understanding of EPA & OSHA regulations with individual certifications preferred.
Presentation skills and ability to interact and address large audiences is necessary.
Required to be engaging and personable to all employees.
Lean tool experience a plus.
ERP system (SAP) experience a plus.
Must be able to stand/walk or sit/type 10-90% of workday.
Occasional lifting required (up to 35 lbs.).
5% - 15% Travel
Bachelor's degree in EHS related field or Engineering
