PurposeApply technical, team management, and project management skills to design commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the United States. Ensure consistently successful completion of engineering plan sets, both on schedule and within allocated budget.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Direction- Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution.
- Position will include direct supervisory responsibility of staff to include direction and delegation of work assignments, performance and evaluation, training and development, employee relations and disciplinary issues.
- Supervise the work of all project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.
- Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff.
- Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Review work produced by project staff for quality assurance.
At the Operational and Company Level - Establish new clients and enhance client relationships through efficient communication and design management
- Represent project team in client communications and resolutions.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, subcontractors, design teams, and other internal engineering departments to facilitate successful outcomes.
- Drive the profitability and growth of projects.
Do the Work - Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
- Perform project management for complex projects, including reviewing project deliverables, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract through change and/or subconsultant work orders, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget.
- Ensure project stays within budget. Regularly review project and task budgets. Prepare and review monthly billings.
- Maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving projects and executing deliverables, and resolving all project questions including technical requirements, completion requirements and billing inquiries.
- Prioritize projects and daily workload to ensure that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Lead and participate in the design and development of electrical plan sets, including site layouts and equipment details.
- Design equipment layouts, installation details, and single-line diagrams (PV, MV, Auxiliary Power, etc.).
- Complete electrical calculations.
- Interface with utilities and coordinate the design of interconnections.
- Generate Single Line Diagrams and interpret requirements for the utility interconnection application processes.
- Oversee the work of design engineers, CAD support techs, and subconsultants on multiple projects to ensure their work meets the highest professional standards.
- Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems, detailed design work and calculations, detailed review of design computations completed by others and general coordination of design aspects into a project.
- Review and enhance project workflow, plan set and design templates
- Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline.
- Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD software
- Maintain project documentation and correspondence.
- Write, review, and edit construction specifications and engineering reports.
- Perform plan reviews for code / regulatory compliance and to assure project specifications are met.
- Prepare and direct preparation of designs, specification, plans, estimates and reports for projects.
- Assist team leadership in securing repeat business from existing clients and identifying new clients.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
- Five or more (5+) years of relevant experience in the Solar PV industry.
- Minimum of three (3) years managing engineering projects.
- PV system interconnection experience.
- Medium-voltage design experience, preferred.
- NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional, preferred.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD required.
- Experience with PV system modeling software such as PVsyst and Helioscope, preferred
- Energy storage system design experience, preferred
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Physical Demands and Working Environment- This a remote / home office position with occasional site visits required
- Primarily indoor professional office environment, which can consist of possible bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Occasional outdoor work environment and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $100,000 - $150,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
