Tax Accountant Stamford, CT 06902 POSITION DETAILS: The Tax Accountant will work closely with the Senior Tax Accountant and oversee our daily transactions and accounting functions for various corporate entities. An understanding of tax and accounting concepts, confidentiality, and organizational skills are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable and has excellent communication skills. This role can work in a hybrid capacity with some home office days per month. Responsibilities: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including income tax, sales and use tax, motor fuel tax and property tax, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations Collaborate with external tax advisors to develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize VERBIO North America's tax position Conduct regular tax research and analysis to stay updated on changing tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on their implications Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards Support tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities, including gathering and organizing relevant documentation, preparing responses, and managing communication with auditors Monitor and reconcile tax accounts, investigate variances, and resolve any tax-related discrepancies Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial information and ensure accurate and timely reporting for tax purposes Assist in the implementation and improvement of tax processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and compliance Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in tax accounting and proactively identify opportunities to enhance VERBIO North America's tax position Requirements: Associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field Excellent interpersonal communication (both oral and written) and analytical skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft 365 a plus 3 - 5 years of Tax Accounting experience in industry or a tax practitioner Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including a solid understanding of tax provisions and accounting principles Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle complex tax issues and solve problems effectively Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas) Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to delivering high-quality work WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU Starting salary is based on candidate experience, education and market pay for the role in the region.
