The Work You Will Do:The DEP Central District Office is seeking a highly qualified candidate with the right energy, attitude, drive, and expertise for a high-level managerial position. This managerial position is one on a team of managers who are responsible for overseeing multi-disciplined programs of over 85 staff serving the eight counties in the Central Florida area. The position is in the Compliance Assurance Program.

Your Specific Responsibilities:In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department's Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position.
The primary responsibility is to directly supervise and oversee the work of staff. The incumbent will effectively communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate on direct work performance and responsible for time and attendance of subordinates.
Compliance Assurance Program
- Oversee the timely issuance of associated program compliance/enforcement documents and/or permitting documents.
- Continually reduces time to process compliance/enforcement and/or permitting actions and response times.
- Coordinates with peers related to the compliance and technical assistance and outreach program for the District Office.
Continuous Improvement
- Assists leadership with consistent reviews of processes and implements efficiencies through the use of continuous improvement strategies.
- Works with the appropriate Division to implement programmatic processes as a means of continuous process improvement.
Staff Development
- Measures performance, conducts performance evaluations, provides feedback, support good work efforts, and takes necessary actions to correct poor performance issues.
- Develops staff technical expertise in the regulated industry.
- Identify, develop and mentor staff for leadership opportunities.
- Ensure that the District's Safety Committee procedures to eliminate safety hazards are implemented and to improve safety awareness among program staff.
- Coordinates with peers in the District Office in order to meet workload commitments and goals.
- Ability to motivate and build a team.
- Be positive and supportive toward management.
- Is a team player that leads by example.
- Skill in managing conflicts and negotiating mutually acceptable outcomes.
- Attends or ensures staff attendance at applicable and/or required trainings, workshops, teleconferences, meetings, and seminars.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of management principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of environmental or natural science.
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis, principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques to address and deal with issues that may arise internally and externally.
- Skilled in problem solving, managing conflict and negotiating mutually acceptable outcomes across multiple programs.
- Skilled in managing and critically evaluating data and reporting program metric reports to assess and meet objectives and goals.
- Ability to manage a multi-disciplined permitting program.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to a regulatory permitting program.
- Ability to perform long-term and short-term program planning activities to ensure the goals and objectives of the agency and district are achieved.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensures proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write complex technical documents to clearly communicate methods, analyses, findings and recommendations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, and leadership.

- Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class E Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related work experience, as described above, for a total of four years.
