POSITION SUMMARY: The Distribution Center Yard Jockey safely operates the yard truck to transfer trailers between doors and staging areas. Sunday-Thursday 5:00pm-1:30am ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Places and removes trailers from Receiving, Shipping, Retail Transportation, Maintenance, cardboard, retail docks. Places appropriate colored seals to signify outbound trailers, staged trailers, and empty trailers. Assigns outbound trailers using FIFO to ensure trailer turnaround and communicating between departments on trailer needs. Communicates with management teams on trailer pools in the yard, possible outages, or overages and keeps inventory of the trailers. Prints the yard check report from TMS and report its accuracy and discrepancies on the trailers. Checks trailers for damages and if they are road ready, tag the trailers out and report damages to the logistics team when trailers need repair. Transports Bill Book between the guard shack and the dispatch office and transports the BOL's from inbound trailers to the Receiving department. Directs drivers where to drop off and pick up trailers. Keeps trailer yard in order and clean.Maintains the spotter trucks, general maintenance (adding oils, fuel, chains, changing bulbs, greasing). Acts as part of a duty rotation, associates would perform the following when not driving a truck: hand sort product as needed, move cartons from staging areas to the trailer doors, load cartons to the belt and to the trailers, clear belt jams. ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Must be able to be machine certified. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: Ability to pay close attention to detail and must work well with numbers. Ability to communicate with fellow employees in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to function as a team player. Knowledge of company policy, procedures, and products. Knowledge of company merchandise and warehouse layout helpful. Availability to work a flexible schedule and perform other duties as assigned. Skill in operating various equipment such as: RF Scanners, fork truck, long tail, etc. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: N/A PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly walks, stands and lifts up to 50lbs.
