Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications lead to effectively manage and enhance the organization's communication efforts, understanding, awareness, and demand signal for capabilities across the entirety of Department of Defense (DoD). The Senior Strategic Communications lead will be responsible for managing a team to develop schedules, meet deadlines, and produce quality products aligned with the strategic goals and intended audience. This role interacts regularly with senior leaders and stakeholders across the DoD. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing strategic communications campaigns, an understanding of learning management technology and the ability to extrapolate areas for inclusion of new and evolving technology. Responsibilities Develops, plans and executes up to 25 strategic communication efforts per year to include communications plans and products aligned with Government goals and objectives. Develops themes, materials, displays, presentations, information packets, and events as required to implement the annual Strategic Communications Plan. Creates and refines an annual plan and key messages establishing major activities and events across the DoD to publish and distribute the organization’s message. Builds and maintains relationships with senior leaders, end users and stakeholders to effectively disseminate information and enhance program demand signal. Oversees the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, speeches, articles, social media posts, and other communication materials. Identifies and engages key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and community members, to build and maintain strong relationships. Plans and executes events and communication campaigns to promote initiatives, products, or services, measuring their effectiveness and impact. Conducts market research to understand audience needs and preferences, adapting communication strategies accordingly. Ensure all communication activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Oversees, mentors, and guides a team of communication professionals to develop high-quality materials. Oversees the organization's digital communication strategy, including social media, website content, and online presence. Develops and communicate spresentations at the Flag Officer/General Officer and senior civilian level. Coordinates with Joint Staff strategic communications specialists and customers to develop understanding of requirements and customer focus. Qualifications Secret Clearance. Bachelor’s Degree or higher with 10 years of relevant experience. Experience with “user experience” (UX) development, processes, techniques, and procedures. Significant experience with and understanding of DoD organization, structure, ranks, processes, procedures, and administrative methods. Expert developing communications to senior DoD leadership (FO/GO and senior civilians). Experience using distributed education technology, social media, and web-based information systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities. Joint Staff or Joint duty experience. Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent work experience. TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility Intellectual curiosity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Understanding of DoD academic institutions, educational systems, and student data management. Familiarity with training software, e-learning platforms, and other technological tools used in training. Experience with eLearning and curriculum and courseware authoring for web-based training and education development. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
