Position Summary
Sr. Geoscientist primary duty will be to perform integrated engineering and geological investigations by combining geophysical, geological, and geotechnical data to develop a detailed understanding of site conditions as they relate to subsea engineering issues associated with offshore energy development.
This is an office US based position with a hybrid work schedule remotely and/or another designated geographic area as needed. Ability to travel domestically and international as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
• For onshore work and during geophysical survey operations, perform offshore side-scan sonar (SSS), subbottom profiler (SBP), multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) (including backscatter and water column data), and 2D/3D high-resolution seismic data QC and interpretation.
• Present detailed Geohazard Assessment Report on interpretations for clients in the telecommunications, education, and energy sectors.
• Coordinate and work with other industry professionals (Geoscientists, Engineers, Archaeologist, etc....) during the life of a project.
• Able to work on strict reporting timelines and deadlines.
• Work within a team environment collecting high-resolution geophysical and geotechnical data, seabed soil and rock samples and performing in situ testing using standard and novel marine coring and penetration tools.
• During geotechnical operations, perform offshore core logging to classify seabed soil and rock samples, perform basic index and strength testing on collected samples, and package and store offshore samples for transport to onshore laboratory testing facility.
• Perform quality assurance checks on all offshore geophysical data, geotechnical testing, and data processing, interpretation, and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate exploration opportunities and assess risks.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders, outlining exploration findings and recommendations.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in geoscience technology, methodologies, and best practices.
• Understanding of AUV technical operations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior geoscientists and support staff.
• Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex geological concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A self-motivated individual who adapts quickly with today's virtual knowledge, self-disciplined with a work schedule remotely from home and/or another designated geographic area as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
• Four-year Undergraduate Degree in Geology, Geosciences, Geophysics, or a related field.
• Five (5) pluses+ years relevant work experience in the field of Geohazard Interpretation.
DESIRED
• Master's Degree in in Geology, Geosciences, Geophysics, or a related field.
• Ten (10) pluses+ years relevant work experience in the field of Geohazard Interpretation.
• Familiarity or proficiency with software packages SMT Kingdom, SonarWiz, QPS Fledermaus, Global Mapper, and ArcGIS is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D seismic data interpretation and reservoir modeling.
• A strong track record of successful exploration project outcomes.
• Able to obtain TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
• Current security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.

Additional Information
This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
