Summary
The General Superintendent provides comprehensive on-site management of multiple solar project sites, ensuring all projects are executed in accordance with the overall design, budget, and schedule. This role involves high-level oversight and coordination across various construction activities and project stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the total construction efforts across multiple project sites to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule, including interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, and other contractors.
• Identify changes to project execution plan and immediately determine appropriate path forward.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions across projects, including scheduling, engineering, material control, and the direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.
• Supervise craft employees and other contractors across multiple sites.
• Authorize and approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc., as needed.
• Provide high-level technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods, and selection of equipment, as required.
• Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, and safety programs across all sites.
• Ensure compliance with all project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules across all projects. Document violations, notify project management, and implement corrective actions as required.
• Assume responsibility for the productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
• Perform additional duties as directed by senior management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Directly manage multiple subordinate supervisors, each responsible for various field operations across project sites.
• Indirectly oversee a broader range of team members engaged in field operations.
Requirements
• Extensive knowledge and experience with self-performing solar construction activities such as earthmoving, dewatering, underground utility construction, driven pile installation, mechanical racking system installation, electrical wiring of major components on a solar facility.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently between project sites, potentially out of town or state.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and teams.
Education and Experience
• Minimum of twenty years of craft supervision experience across solar construction projects.
• Experienced in the complete construction of solar facilities from start to finish. Such as; Project setup, mobilization, SWPP Installation, clearing and grubbing, site grading, access roads, foundations, mechanical, electrical, commissioning and testing.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment, methods; craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules, and safety.
