Basic Job Functions:Plans and supervises the scheduling of daily work assignments of all wastewater treatment and Recycling personnel. Responsible for training and developing direct reports. Provides clear direction to hourly associates, contractors, and vendors to ensure that First Solar's standards are being met. Responsible for communicating objectives, systems, and policies to direct reports across four shifts. Responsible for working with the appropriate departments to handle employee relations issues. This position is a frontline plant supervisor position with majority of the work time spent on the plant floor to assist technicians and to manage plant operations in a safe and compliant manner. The position is expected to collaborate with other area supervisors to meet the company goals.
Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years in water treatment, environmental, chemistry or related field with 2+ years of supervisory responsibilities.
Required Skills/Competencies: - Proven strong communication and leadership skills.
- Strong people skills and ability to handle conflicts in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate proficiency with wet chemical processes.
- Wastewater treatment capabilities in manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of chemical compatibilities.
- Experience in chemical analyses - both instrumental and wet
- Proven safe handling and experience of industrial chemicals.
- Proven mechanical skills.
- Good understanding of instrument calibration.
- Demonstrate proficiency with mechanical equipment.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to interpret and read basic mechanical engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of lab practices, instruments, and equipment.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs.
Essential Responsibilities: - Responsible for supervising the wastewater treatment and recycling associates on four shifts, including time keeping, scheduling, setting goals and discipline.
- Responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment, process water systems and Recycling.
- Develop documentation and training for any process changes.
- Supervises the troubleshooting and servicing of all wastewater and Recycling equipment and is responsible for the preventative maintenance program.
- Responsible for working with Corporate WW/Recycling Engineering to ensure proper hand off of new or modified WWT/UPW and Recycling systems. Including qualifications, work instructions, preventive maintenance, and training.
- Manages the timely completion of special projects as required.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement projects.
- Interfaces with other Company and Supplier personnel as required, such as during the ordering of necessary chemicals and materials.
- Creating effective communications to foster team building.
- Strict adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
- Oversight and understanding of the responsibilities of the WW/Recycling operators to properly manage hazardous waste.
- Responsible for the proper labelling of containers, ensuring they are dated and closed at all times.
- Inform EHS Department of any waste management issues that arise and of any new associates that need to be trained.

Reporting Relationships: - This position will report to Manager- WWT/Recycling
- This position has direct reports on four shifts.
Travel: - No regular travel is required outside the First Solar work site.
Estimated Salary Range: - $63,9000-$91,050 Annually.
US Physical Requirements: - Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
- Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
- Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
- 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
- All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
