As Stemilt's
Sustainability Program Specialist you will be key to enhancing our environmental commitment by collaborating with teams to develop greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, leading life cycle assessments, analyzing data for insights, and engaging with stakeholders to promote sustainability efforts. This position supports four thousand Stemilters and it's required to
deliver extraordinary customer service at all levels, in addition, this role involves engaging with customers on sustainability efforts, handling certification processes, and promoting the company's sustainability initiatives both internally and externally. Additional Responsibilities - Develop and enhance Stemilt's sustainability platform and initiatives for external audiences, including the creation of a dedicated sustainability webpage on Stemilt.com and other platforms.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to effectively promote Stemilt's sustainability efforts to customers and the public on an ongoing basis.
- Partner with cross-functional teams-including SAS Orchards, Marketing, Procurement, Food Safety, and R&D-to support the development and implementation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reduction initiatives and sustainability goals.
- Contribute to the Life Cycle Assessment project at the warehouse and orchard levels in collaboration with the R&D department.
- Accurately collect and report data for Stemilt's annual greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, ensuring precise execution.
- Analyze GHG data, targets, and roadmaps to identify trends and insights that inform decision-making and enhance sustainability practices.
- Drive customer engagement strategies and monitor requirements related to GHG and sustainability initiatives.
- Pursue third-party sustainability certifications as needed, managing and maintaining the certification process to ensure compliance and credibility.
- Complete annual customer sustainability surveys, including but not limited to Walmart's Project Gigaton, Thesis, and the CDP Initiative, to showcase commitment to sustainability.
- Effectively communicate Stemilt's Sustainability Program within the organization, fostering awareness and participation among team members.
- Develop expertise in Stemilt packaging, focusing on recyclability, composability, H2Recycle labeling, and product specifications to meet sustainability standards.
- Demonstrate independence and self-motivation in creating and implementing innovative sustainability programs for Stemilt.

Experience: The role requires essential experience and knowledge of the apple, pear, and cherry industries, with a preference for candidates who have sustainability experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting, particularly related to greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability metrics.
- Project Management Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex sustainability concepts to diverse audiences.
- Customer Engagement: Experience in building relationships with customers and stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives.
- Certifications: Familiarity with sustainability certifications and compliance processes is a plus.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and creativity in developing sustainability programs.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with software tools for data analysis and reporting, as well as knowledge of packaging sustainability (recyclability, composability) is beneficial.
