YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of TCEQ's Office of Water, you would address diverse issues related to groundwater quality and quantity. This includes brainstorming sessions on developing sustainable groundwater resources for future generations through planning, monitoring, and assessing current and future groundwater conditions.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...
- Plan and conduct geologic work involving technical programs and complex project management for the Groundwater Planning and Assessment Team of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Ensure compliance with state mandates and federal grant commitments through application of technical program and project management. Implement and monitor projects, assign project tasks, and allocate project resources.
- Coordinate and conduct complex geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, assessments, studies, and special projects. Oversee and/or conduct program and regulatory evaluations and special studies as needed.
- Prepare, coordinate, write, edit, and evaluate complex technical reports, guidance, data, and information. Evaluate contracts, grants, and project proposals, technical evaluations, recommendations, and plans regarding programs and projects; agency rules and regulatory development and guidance; and state and federal rules and legislation.
Qualifications:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEGeoscientist III - Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus four years of full-time geoscientific experience beyond licensure.
OR - Nine years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve (12) months of hire date by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG).
A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed.
Transcripts/College Hours or Course Work: See instructions on how to attach documents. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed as required above.
OR - Career Ladder Progression: Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as a Geoscientist II.
Geoscientist IV - Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus five years of full-time geological experience beyond licensure.
OR - Ten years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve (12) months of hire date by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG).
A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEESThis position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Geoscientist III - IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Geoscientist III - IV series.
