This position is with NorthStar Clean Energy, a CMS Energy company, and is not a position of employment with Consumers Energy. Job Description/Responsibilities:The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading project teams in the planning, design, execution and commissioning of the company's utility scale renewable energy facilities. The PM will oversee, coordinate, perform and track the planning, implementing, quality control, and status reporting on a given project. This position manages the project team, which typically consists of matrixed roles from all the areas of the organization as well as heavy reliance on outside consultants, engineering firms, and construction firms. The EPC Project Manager is responsible for working with stakeholders to define the project scope; preparing the project schedule, and updating that schedule as it evolves; proposing the project budget, and then managing the project cost and schedule; making sure the project team has the supplies and human resources necessary to get the project done on time and on budget; identifying and minimizing potential risks to the project timeline and budget; making sure that all project team members understand what their responsibilities are; communicating the project's progression to management; and ensuring the quality of the team's work and any supplies or materials used by the team.
The Project Manager will: - Plan and manage utility scale renewable energy projects (and other projects as necessary) of high complexity, multi-year projects valued at over $100 million.
- Prepare Project Charter documents, Project Management Plans, Scoping Documents, Risk Registers, and other project management deliverables through the project lifecycle.
- Organize, lead, and document Project team meetings to coordinate, update, and hold team members accountable for project responsibilities
- Manage projects to achieve overall financial and commercial success in meeting the company's business goals.
- Meet agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives
- Develop project schedules including schedule concepts, constraints, items in appropriate level of detail, track schedule process, update items with project scheduler, and communicate schedule to project team. The Project Manager is will utilize Microsoft Project individually as well as working with a scheduler depending on stage of the project lifecycle.
- Provide clear and accurate communications to project stakeholders
- Develop and maintain project plans that provide timely deliverables to achieve project objectives
- Identify initial risks, issues and constraints impacting project execution
- Work collaboratively with other functional areas in the development of project tasks and deliverables ensuring the successful execution of projects
- Manage multiple projects at various stages of development concurrently
- Perform as liaison to coordinate effective communications, discussions, and negotiations between NSCE and third parties (both private and governmental and host landowners)
- Develop project execution plans for various complex project types and business arrangements, including Engineering-Procure-Construct, Build-Own-Operate, etc.
- Develop and perform presentations for the NSCE leadership team
- Validate financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
- Provide ethical leadership within NSCE Code of Conduct
- Assist in the development of performance metrics and track performance of each project.
- Identify and recommend new processes, techniques and standards that drive performance and process improvement.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university.
- 7-10 or more years applied engineering or equivalent working experience including project management experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

- Demonstrated success in identifying and managing risk
- Communicating and reporting project status to senior leadership
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Excellent communication skills including conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
Hours and Travel:This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week (45-50 typical) with 60% of time spent in the office (whether at company office building or at remote office if approved by Supervisor) and 40% at project locations, which may require overnight stays. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location. Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines. Individuals must have a valid driver's license.
The successful candidate will be required to routinely travel to Project Sites where work is in the planning or execution phases.
