Position Description - Operations Manager Business Group/Dept: Operations FLSA: Exempt Reports To: Managing Director Date: October 9, 2024 Purpose of the Position Manage overall operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Department in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws. Essential Position Responsibilities Represent the company on regulatory issues, including but not limited to, Department of Transportation, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and OSHA. Enhance the operational procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting, and look for opportunities to expand systems. General list of duties, including but not limited to, interviewing, selection, and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; authoring and discussing performance appraisals with employee's; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans; employee motivation and rewards. Organizing the budget of the company in collaboration with the CFO. Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees. Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions. Manage staff levels, wages, hours, contract labor to revenues. Meet or exceed operations labor budget expectations. Forecast requirements; prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiating corrective actions. Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures; develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping. Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations. Responsible for all aspects of vehicle and heavy equipment rentals. Manage relationships with key operations vendors. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations. Accomplish operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Work closely with management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation. Perform analysis of our inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively, selection and procurement of vehicles and equipment, maintaining solid inventory data, and reduce sub-rental expenses. Physical activities: Primarily office-based; requires prolonged periods of sitting and extensive use of computer and office equipment. Frequent travel via car or plane. Infrequent exposure to hazards typical of construction sites as necessitated by site visits. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Infrequent use of hard hat, respirator, steel-toed footwear as necessitated by site visits. Safety Sensitive: Yes Travel: 25% - 50% Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or Relevant Field Preferred Skill Set: Proven experience as a Operations Manager or relevant role with a strong operational background and work history showing excellent decision-making abilities; Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development with an understanding of data analysis and performance metrics; Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, including the ability to communicate a vision and drive results across departments; Advanced business acumen and exemplary work ethics, discretion, and confidentiality. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification or equivalent, preferred.
