Primary Duties/Responsibilities of Position:The NCNG is a military force comprised of citizen Soldiers and Airmen sworn to support and defend the Constitutions of the United
States and the State of North Carolina. We trace our heritage back to the 1663 Carolina Charter granting authority to levy, muster, and
train men. In recent years, the NCNG reshaped itself in accordance with guidance from the Chief, National Guard Bureau and the
Departments of the Army and Air Force. This transformation changed the NCNG's focus and structure from that of a strategic reserve to
a modern, operational force. The NCNG postures itself in an evolving environment for success in meeting both current and future
mission requirements, while maintaining a Ready, Reliable, Responsive and Relevant force (R4). It consists of a diverse workforce with

military capabilities, in support of State and/or National authorities, in order to protect the lives and properties of fellow Citizens, defend

Description of Work Unit and/or Division:The Energy Manager is a critical in-house resource for design, project management and value engineering while ensuring energy
conservation in National Guard facilities. This employee will review design consultant submissions to develop efficient heating and
cooling systems, energy management, automated control systems, thermal controls, boiler modifications and improvements, and energy
cost-avoidance technologies. The employee will report National Guard energy conservation achievements, programs and activities,
evaluates present areas of energy inefficiency, and pinpoints opportunities for improvement. The employee will predict future energy
savings, calculate project payback periods, and identify energy savings opportunities. Design reviews are made to analyze energy
systems proposed for major military construction and minor construction projects, energy conservation projects, energy and water
resiliency projects and retrofit or maintenance operations. This position requires the employee to climb stairs, ladders and perform
moderate levels of exertion to fully examine buildings under construction or equipment during installation and maintenance. Extensive
In-State travel required.
This is technical, supervisory, administrative and professional engineering work. Positions spend a considerable portion of time in performing the complex, contraoversial and/or advanced work in the engineering area of assignment. Position in this classification supervise a component or multiple components of an engineering oriented program. They are typically responsible for serving as a supervisor and engineering program authority in an organization. Positions in this class may assist program leadership with administrative duties such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality assurance, and staff development.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressive experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
