The Safety, Health and Environmental Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Terrell facility's safety, health and environmental activities to build a strong safety culture with zero harm focus and full compliance with all government regulations and company requirements.
Here's What You'll Get To Do- Develop and implement actions to facilitate a strong safety culture through high leadership and employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent OSHA, EPA and OBE requirements, programs and regulations
- Provide guidance and support to facility leadership on safety, health and environmental aspects of operations.
- Maintain company's database and all other safety and environmental related records in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company requirements.
- Oversee, evaluate and continuously improve facility safety initiatives to ensure the compliance with all applicable standards and building a strong safety culture. This would include, but not limited to:
- Supporting annual Safety Plan development and monitoring progress
- Management of Good Catch Program
- Coordinating required safety documentation for the facility (JSAs, Machine Guarding & PPE Assessments, New Equipment Evaluations, etc.)
- Reviewing and ensuring proper updating and compliance of Facility Written Programs (LOTO, PIT, Hazcom, etc)
- Supporting safety committee and plant safety project work teams led by line leadership.
- Monitor execution of department audits and GEMBA walks to assure they are conducted with rigor and intensity and that findings are properly addressed.
- Coach site leadership to be safety champions and live safety as a value integrated into the way the site operates.
- Research and implement new safety activities to keep the safety program current and effective and drive culture development.
- Ensure all new hire and annual safety training is effective, completed and documented in the database.
- Work closely with the local HR Representative, Corporate SH&E staff and insurance company to manage all workers compensation claims.
Here's What We're Looking For - Bachelor's degree in safety, environment or related field or relevant work experience equivalent to a degree
- Minimum 5 years safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret governmental safety and environmental regulations (i.e., OSHA, EPA)
- Personality, presence, and confidence to lead meetings, coach peers & leaders, recognize success, and discipline bad choices or behaviors.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently prioritizing work to achieve deliverables.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
