OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Contributes to the success of a client project by assisting with and/or performing project management duties while gaining knowledge of building systems, construction sequencing, and the construction process as a whole.
JOB COMPLEXITY/SCOPE: Performs project management duties including cost estimating, scheduling, quality management, safety management, and contract administration. Assists with large/complex projects and/or works independently on small projects or projects of low complexity.
SUPERVISION: Work is reviewed by higher-level PMs.

JOB DUTIES:
Cost Management
• Under supervision, monitors project costs during all project phases.
• Assists supervisory staff in managing project budget and cash flow analysis.
• Under supervision, prepares and/or reviews cost estimates.
• Learns the contractor billing and change order process; reviews these documents with help from supervisor.
Schedule Management
• Understands the project schedule and works to ensure on-time completion.
• Understands how to create schedules using scheduling software with help from supervisor concerning activity linkage.
• Takes initiative when schedule concerns arise to inform supervisor and work through solutions.
Quality Management
• Assures selection of materials and products in specification conform to quality requirements and applicable standards set forth by owner.
• With assistance from supervisor, performs design reviews to ensure construction details are quality focused and drawings are coordinated.
• Performs field inspections during construction process to ensure design intent and specifications are being met.
Contract Administration
• Understands Cotter's scope of work for the project and the deliverables required.
• Has an awareness of all consulting contracts associated with the project and the responsibility under each.
• Prepares and maintains documentation and project reports as required.
• Manages hours for each task to ensure the amount allocated in the contract is not exceeded.
Client Relations and Business Development
• Maintains relationship with client on an ongoing basis to enhance client satisfaction and increase potential for additional business.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or related field
• Typically requires 2-3 years related experience
• Ability to work at a fast pace, getting work done in complete, accurate detail and in accordance with standards and policies
• Ability to use a computer, the Internet, word processing and email software.
• CAPM/PMP Certification preferred
• Experience Working in Utility industry preferred

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job duties in an office setting require the following:
• Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the office;
• The ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects;
• Good hand-eye coordination; the ability to reach with hands and arms; and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp;
• Close visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment, prepare and review data and figures, and view a computer monitor;
• The ability to talk and hear;
• The ability to work in an upper level of a high-rise office building (Cotter Chicago office and some client offices);
• The ability to handle temperature changes consistent with inside environmental conditions; and
• Mental abilities including remembering, reasoning, concentrating to remain on task, reading, problem solving, managing concurrent tasks, and the ability to understand and follow directions.
For job duties that require visiting a construction work site, the following is required:
• Normal color vision;
• The ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms;
• The ability to move across uneven surfaces and the ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling on uneven or slippery surfaces;

• The ability to stand for sustained periods of time;
• The ability to work in confined spaces and narrow passageways;
• The ability to work in high places; and
