Two years of experience in a large scale recycling operation. This experience must include the operation of equipment such as forklifts, large capacity paper shredders, and down stroke balers. You must have two years supervisory experience. You must have a High School Diploma issued by a recognized state educational authority or a USAFI GED High School Certificate. For the duration of the NY HELPS program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications. After one year all candidates hired under the NY HELPS program will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status without having to complete an exam.
Duties Description You will oversee the daily recycling center operations for the area to which you are assigned. You will train and supervise the Incarcerated Individuals who are under your direction. The areas of training and supervision will include, but are not limited to: material identification, grading, sorting, processing, and unloading trailers. In addition to the training and supervision roles, you will be responsible for: scheduling delivery of recyclables from other facilities, shredding of confidential records, inventory and record keeping, and processing of Incarcerated Individual payroll.
