Job DescriptionNuclear Engineering Instructor - Plant HatchSNC Plant Hatch has opportunities for a Nuclear Engineering Instructor in the Maintenance and Technical Training organization. This opportunity lies within the Engineering training program.
SUMMARYThe Nuclear Engineering Instructor in the Maintenance and Technical Training organization is responsible for presenting and administering the Engineering training program. The Nuclear Plant Instructor will design, conduct and evaluate classroom and laboratory instruction; develop training and examination materials; and process and maintain training records for the Engineering training program. These activities are instrumental in maintaining the plant's INPO accreditation.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Developing lesson materials to be used in the training programs
- Conducting training sessions
- Determining training program effectiveness
- Maintaining plant training records
- Reviewing and maintaining training materials
- Conducting assessments, research, and evaluations as requested by the Technical Instructor Lead
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the overall training plan
- Supporting the line organization as requested during temporary outage assignments
- Managing the Engineering training program to include class scheduling and timekeeping
- Assisting in Corrective Action Program (CAP) activities
- Working as a team member to support Engineering training project workload with minimal supervision
JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation Requirements - Bachelor-s Degree in Engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field required.
- Completion of an accredited-based technical training program, or equivalent as evidenced by a certificate, diploma, transcript, apprentice program syllabus, and/or INPO accredited training program (records as available) is preferred.
Background/Experience Requirements - 5 years of Engineering experience preferred
- At least 3 years power plant experience desired
- Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) experience preferred
- Previous experience as an Engineering power plant instructor preferred
- Understanding of and experience with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process, including relevant INPO ACAD requirements desired

- Excellent organization skills
- Detailed knowledge of Engineering processes
- Experience in the field applications of Engineering fundamentals
- Ability to achieve and maintain a high-level of proficiency as a certified INPO instructor
- Ability to assess relevant training needs for students in accordance with policies and standards from Southern Company, INPO, and the NRC
- Manage training curriculum within the Vision server from InFocus Learning
- Stay informed as to relevant skill and qualifications levels required by Engineers for effective performance, and circulate requirements and relevant information to the organization as appropriate
- Design training courses and programs as necessary to meet training needs, and/or manage this activity via external provider(s)
- Cooperate with external training and accreditation bodies, agencies, and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards
- Organize training venues, logistics, transportation, and accommodations as required to achieve efficient training attendance and delivery
Other RequirementsThe successful candidate must meet background screening and NRC "Fitness for Duty" requirements. In addition, must meet the company physical requirements and ability to be respirator qualified.
Selected candidate must live within one hour of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.
