Job DescriptionAs an Environmental Engineer / Hydrogeologist your primary responsibility is to manage a wide variety of environmental assessments and remediation projects including brownfield assessments, remedial design, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, asbestos, and Underground Storage Tank (UST) assessments with full responsibilities for multiple projects located throughout the southeastern united states.
Responsibilities and Duties:- Self-manage/self-motivated to handle multiple projects while producing high quality results within the time constraints of each project.
- Evaluate and apply standard technical principles and procedures while using independent judgment and utilize working knowledge of key regulatory programs.
- Produce written reports and related documents that show solid technical writing capabilities and display the knowledge and commitment necessary to producing high-quality end results for our clients.
- Perform and coordinate with a wide variety of stakeholders on project activities involving environmental investigations and remediation.
- Review and interpret environmental data; evaluate quality assurance/quality control data; develop conceptual site models; identify data gaps; prepare or peer review a variety of work plans and reports; and develop scopes of work, schedules, costs and health and safety plans for projects under RCRA, CERCLA and other state programs.
- Support internal and external projects utilizing new technologies to improve efficiency, quality and achieve project objectives, including electronic field data collection, management, and reporting.
- Evaluate remedial alternatives and assist clients develop cost-effective closure strategies and negotiate them with regulatory agencies.
- Appropriately delegate assignments to project team members and mentor junior staff.
- Prepare proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. Maintain and grow client relationships to generate repeat business.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with the BLE team, our clients, and subcontractors while extending a high level of respect and integrity with each interaction
Skill Requirements:- Be able to learn, understand and implement State Regulatory requirements.
- Must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal; ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with team members and clients.
- Intermediate Software proficiency (Including but not limited to): Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth Pro, Microsoft Office Suite, scanning and wi-fi.
- An eye for details, being thorough.
- Must be able to bend, kneel and lift up to 70lbs, the ability to be on your feet all day.
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience
- Engineer w/ E.I.T or G.I.T in South Carolina
Preferred Qualifications: - Licensed Engineer or Geologist in the state of South Carolina
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Able to work occasional weekends, and overtime as needed.
Travel:- Out-of-town travel and stays are required. Travel is roughly 30% of the job.
