Summary:At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee-owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we're continuously expanding. With 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities across 20 states, we're seeking a dedicated professional to join our team to assist with opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Environment, this role will manage a portfolio of environmental remediation projects to address contamination of environmental media and support other environmental, safety and security (EHS&S) programs. This position will be part of the Corporate Risk Management team and the candidate will need to be located at any one of the existing Harcros facilities listed at Harcros.com. The preferred location is Kansas City, KS as this is our corporate headquarters.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
- The Company has entered into agreements with EPA and various state agencies to conduct investigations, develop remediation plans and implement long term remediation and ground water monitoring. This position will manage long term agency commitments to comply with requirements, track environmental expenditures vs budgets and report to management on progress and status.
- Interact with external stakeholders to develop and implement site strategies for managing environmental liabilities and to manage ongoing remediation activities.
- Build and lead effective multi-disciplinary teams, including consultants, legal counsel and contractors, to complete complex environmental remediation projects.
- Develop annual financial budgets, maintain effective project tracking, schedule management and cost monitoring and control.
- Effectively interact with Federal, State or local agencies as required to meet project objectives.
- Prepare environmental reserves for known liabilities and interact with external auditors to support projections.
- Interface with internal staff on construction projects that encounter areas of known contamination.
- Lead Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments for property acquisitions/divestiture. Assist legal counsel in environmental aspects of Purchase or Sale Agreements.
- Provide guidance and/or manage spill cleanup at company facilities and third party locations.
- Assist the internal compliance group on various environmental and safety compliance programs or internal and external audits.
- Other duties assigned as directed.
- Travel approximately 15% of the time.
Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor's degree in preferably in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
- 10-15+ years of related experience and/or training. Direct experience in managing environmental assessment and remedial projects.
- Master's degree, Professional Engineering License, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional is a plus.
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Capable of collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds to build an effective team.

Physical Capabilities & Requirements: - Frequently standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Work Environment: - Work environment includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions and mechanical equipment.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals and noise.
- Occasionally work at elevated, precarious heights and could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
