DescriptionCAMS Solar Services, LLC is seeking to hire a Solar O&M Service Technician with knowledge in electrical systems within the Commercial and Industrial solar space. Our C&I Solar Service Technician II will be responsible for completing service calls, troubleshooting solar installations and electrical preventative maintenance among other things. The candidate must have a strong safety mindset, an excellent work ethic, good communication and documenting skills, etc. This job opportunity will work on multiple sites in the Northern California region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, combiner boxes, solar panels, and other components.
- Responsible for the preventative maintenance of Battery Storage (BESS) units and MV interconnections.
- Able to replace/install hardware, PV modules, inverters, monitoring equipment and any other component within the solar site.
- Perform commissioning of equipment depending on degree on maintenance needed.
- Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures.
- Understand the requirements for LOTO and to wear appropriate arc flash PPE required for the system being worked on
- Prepare reports to comply with deliverables in O&M contracts
- Help in all areas of preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by manager with minimal supervision.
- In the performance of your duties, use equipment and resources in accordance with instructions provided by the company.
- Maintains adherence to Company policies, quality, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices.
- Carry out any other tasks delegated by the company.
- Must have flexibility to work during weekends and always be available on call. Occasion night shift work required
- Attending training sessions on equipment as provided by the manufacturer and approved by the manager.
- Work alone outdoors, potentially in extreme weather conditions.
- Conduct routine site inspections for security, cleanliness, and note deficiencies
- Substation and Medium Voltage Equipment Inspections.
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and possibly in awkward positions for extended periods
Requirements- High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years' experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PV systems required.
- Must be able to become a qualified person per NESC, NEC, NFPA 70E to work up to Medium Voltage (MV)
- Must have good organization, communication, analytical, planning and customer service skills.
- Must be flexible, be able to adapt to new situations, have self-control and have high integrity.
- Must have flexibility to work during weekends and always available on call.
- Competent skills using Microsoft office software's like Outlook, Excel, and Word. Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Company vehicles provided and will require daily travel to locations throughout California.
- Lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Climb and descend stairs and ladders.
- Stoop when servicing equipment
- Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Clean driving record to operate company vehicles. Must be able to commute to the project site in the Central CA area daily.
