Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., who is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy provides wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services to over 1,000 projects across the U.S., with a total electric capacity of more than 5,100 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy is seeking a Lead Technician. Our Solar Technicians are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement.
Responsibilities:- Leads crews of technicians to complete required duties
- Interact directly with the customer, as directed by the manager
- Train and mentor employees as directed by the manager
- Oversee and perform operations, planned maintenance, and unplanned maintenance on sub-station equipment.
- Perform pad mounted transformer switching in accordance with all energy isolation procedures.
- Troubleshooting and communicating warranty issues
- Oversee daily work activities including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting needs.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on equipment as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
- Oversee small or large corrective tasks on a solar facility.
- Work as scheduled during the week and on call as needed or required by manager
- Assist in mobilizing crews to complete work.
- Act as the backup to the active manager, if requested by manager.
- Complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory).
Basic Qualifications:- High School/GED requirement, (6+) years of related work experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Solar Technician.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Medium/High voltage switching and/or qualifications.
Desired Qualifications:- Associate's in electrical construction and maintenance.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools).
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirement
Working Conditions:- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to travel to support all Deriva fleet projects
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
- Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, or solvents
- Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs individually
- Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds
- Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
- Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program.
- This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading
