The Survey and Mapping Technician III is a journey-level position that applies a full range of specialized skills and job knowledge while performing land surveying duties. This is primarily a field position that reports to Metropolitan Water District's Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA and performs geodetic control and property boundary surveys within Metropolitan's service area. As a Survey and Mapping Technician III, you will work alongside junior staff to perform geodetic control and property boundary surveys to assist office personnel in preparing various mapping products including record of surveys, corner records, geodetic control maps, legal descriptions, survey plats, etc. Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day (6:30 am to 4:15 pm), 8 hours per day every other Friday (6:30 am to 3:15 pm). To view the full job description click here: Surveying and Mapping Technician III EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: A high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency (HSEC) and six years of progressively increasing responsibility work experience in field and/or office survey work; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of relevant experience; OR two years in an MWD Survey and Mapping Technician II classification. Relevant experience is defined as: performing surveying activities, leading a survey crew, working on surveying and mapping projects in the field, including utilization of survey and mapping software, survey equipment (such as GPS, total stations, levels, data collectors), AND performing survey computations.
