Environmental Compliance Manager
Oil Changers is America's leading independent quick lube operator. As a Private Equity-backed organization, we have aggressive growth targets for the next three years and seek an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to join us during this exciting period! The ideal candidate is responsible for ensuring Federal, State, County, and City environmental laws are followed at all our Southwestern and Midwestern locations. This position requires interaction with environmental inspectors, including Federal EPA, State agencies, and local fire jurisdictions.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the West Coast Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Comply, manage, and drive environmental compliance requirements for a region of stores.
• Collect and submit reconciled manifests to the EPA
• Administer analytical testing program for bulk products
• Co-manage employee environmental compliance training programs, including RCRA,
OSHA, HazCom, Lock Out/Tag Out
• Ability to interpret environmental compliance laws and permit requirements, stay abreast
of the changing regulatory landscape and analyze the various options for complying with
new regulations and permit requirements.
• Co-manage the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) online folders for all stores
• Participate in the PAMA's ("Preventative Automotive Maintenance Association") Government Affairs Committee
• Manage backflow device operation and testing
• Create and administer policies to manage the Universal Waste generated at each facility
• Coordinate the reporting and record keeping activities for store permits and other
environmental regulatory reporting requirements and corporate sustainability data tracking
requirements
• Perform hazard analysis and recommend the appropriate PPE
• Label all new product dispensers in accordance with NCWM ("National Council on Weights and Measures") guidelines
• Ensure all hazardous waste containers are labeled in accordance with regulation
• Review and evaluate regulatory permits/requirements and associated documentation
• Create detailed spreadsheets based on permit requirements/tasks performing quality
control reviews of work products.
• Contribute to territory, regional team meetings focused on project review trends,
environmental services trends, cross-functional training needs, and customer service best
practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5 years experience in environmental compliance
• 2 years experience in the automotive (preferably retail oil) industry
• Bachelor's degree in a natural science field of study
• Detail oriented, self motivated and works as a team player
• Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, including technical report writing and
data evaluation capabilities detailed field (on-site) observations and associated
documentation
• Experience managing facilities classified as large quantity hazardous waste generators
• Knowledge of Federal hazardous waste laws
• Experience training employees/Skilled presenter
• Microsoft Office and G-Suite experience
• Excellent time management skills
• Able to work independently
• Ability to travel up to 50%
COMPENSATION: 65-75k DOE and bonus
