POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
The Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager is responsible for overseeing safety and health initiatives across the Base Operations Support Contract at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), ensuring a safe, compliant, and continuously improving workplace. In this role, you will support and implement ARC's safety initiatives, enforce the Airfield and Facilities Support Services (AFSS) Health and Safety Plan (HASP), and lead safety inspections and audits. This position plays a vital role in upholding high standards for workplace safety, health, and environmental compliance, reinforcing NASA's commitment to a secure operational environment.
This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)- Lead and monitor safety and health initiatives for AFSS operations, supporting ARC's overall safety goals and ensuring alignment with contractual requirements.
- Implement and oversee the AFSS Health and Safety Plan, ensuring compliance with NASA's safety guidelines and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Regularly review the AFSS safety program and conduct inspections, audits, and evaluations to maintain compliance with ARC requirements and identify opportunities for safety enhancements.
- Ensure that all AFSS employees complete and maintain required training and certifications, keeping them up to date on safety protocols and compliance standards.
- Lead safety inspections and audits, document findings, and collaborate with the team to address corrective actions and implement preventive measures as necessary.
Estimated Pay Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per yearREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- At least 10 years of experience overseeing safety and health at a NASA center, demonstrating a solid understanding of NASA's safety standards and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications or Skills- In-depth knowledge of safety and health regulations, with a proven ability to implement and maintain effective safety programs in a NASA environment.
- Strong background in conducting safety audits and inspections, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff on safety practices and maintain a proactive safety culture.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices, with a focus on creating a secure work environment that meets and exceeds ARC requirements.
