The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager performs a variety of assignments to ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety. Leads accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Plans, develops, administers, and manages organization safety policies, programs, and training in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Utilizes working knowledge of federal and state laws to maintain compliance with OSHA and EPA agencies.

What You'll Do- Responsible for managing EH&S policies and procedures at both facilities as well as jobsite duties performed by service technicians.
- Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures as well as a schedule of routine inspections. Inspects the facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Ensures all safety policies and procedures as well as known risks are regularly communicated to all affected employees.
- Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company. Implements safety plans while ensuring they are being followed daily.
- Mentors department managers, as needed, to augment and support their efforts in moving to a best practice organization in terms of safety and environmental compliance.
- Assures compliance with environmental filing requirements per state and federal regulations. Compiles and submits reporting such as SERC and TRI. Maintains and updates Air Permits, SPCC Plan and SWPPP.
- Attends safety walk-throughs and inspections before and during each project to analyze risks.
- Leads accident investigation process by working with supervision to ensure root causes are identified and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintains OSHA 300 Logs, reports on lost-time accidents and prepares appropriate reports on safety-related incidents and drives corrective actions.
- Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events.
- Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Conducts or directs research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operation, or process.
- Emphasizes environmental and safety and possesses a practical understanding of Industrial Hygiene (IH).
- Works with Plant Engineering and Management to ensure new and existing processes meet safety standards. Guides creation of work instructions to include safety critical elements.
- Proven knowledge of BWC policies and procedures, to include administration of and handling documents, as well as available programs. Examples of programs include Drug Free Workplace, Hearing Conservation, etc.
- Experience in an EH&S role of 8 years minimum.
- Emphasizes ability to take initiative/be self-starter/demonstrate proactiveness.
Secondary Accountabilities- Maintains liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
- Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participates in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)
Degree: Bachelor's Degree required. Major: Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 8
Area: Manufacturing/General Industry required, knowledge in various industries preferred. Consulting experience beneficial.
Competencies / Technical Skills- Extensive understanding of federal, state, and city safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines and being flexible based on managing such.
- Ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees, particularly to gain buy-in.
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental requirements and filings, as well as available resources to utilize where needed.
- Ability to conduct health studies for hearing and respiratory protection.
- Proven safety leader with the ability to define a vision and lead change, delivering immediate results.
- History of using influence (rather than managerial authority) in achieving team results.
- Solid analytical and administrative skills.
- Ability to execute on day-to-day tactical responsibilities while exercising strategic, project-driven initiatives.
Licenses / Certifications- Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure as a safety officer preferred.
Physical Requirements- Most of the time spent sitting, standing, and walking. May be situations which require up to 50 pounds of lifting. Must be able to bend periodically. Must be able to see and hear.
