ATSS Engineering has a client in Calvert, AL looking for an Electrical Weld Engineer.
The ideal candidate will support the Cold Rolling Mill automated laser welders by analyzing, troubleshooting, recommending, and overseeing repairs and improvements of all electro-mechanical systems to meet the business goals.
The Basics:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience with maintenance in an industrial environment, preferably in the steel industry
- Understanding of standard electrical engineering principles and practices, drawings, and fine tolerances
- Competency or ability to learn PLC programming platforms with use of ladder logic, function block, and statement list logic
- Competency or ability to learn power distribution systems, motors drives, sensors, actuator systems, and communication protocols
- Competency or ability to learn hydraulic, mechanical drive systems, and alignments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
The Extras:
- Knowledge of industrial C02 laser welding systems and optics
- Knowledge of process automation applications
- Knowledge of hydraulics, power transmission, and complex machine alignments
- Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems
- Knowledge of IBA, or similar process trending software
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Practices

WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Maintaining and continuous improvement of the reliability of two automated CO2 Laser strip welders and associated equipment
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of complex electromechanical systems including hydraulics, gearboxes, laser optics, PLC, HMIs, motor drives, and communications
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) for delays within a team environment and execute Corrective Actions (CAs) to mitigate future occurrences
- Initiating &/or implementing continuous improvement of the equipment reliability by developing and reviewing PMs, improving functional location details and material master data in SAP
- Conducting maintenance activities utilizing SAP software (Notifications, Work orders, Purchase Requisitions, Spare Parts, Service Entries, etc.)
- Training, coaching, and mentoring maintenance technicians and operations team members
- Developing and Auditing Energy Control Procedures (ECPs) to ensure the safety of team members performing work on mill equipment
- Travel both local and abroad will be required for training and best practice visits

- Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
