Field Service Engineer IV (C4) - Install Team

If you like to troubleshoot hardware, solve complex problems, and make equipment work better, this is the role for you. As a Field Service Engineer, you'll work in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites around the globe, where you are the face of Applied Materials and an integral part of a vibrant and diverse team.
Our senior-level Field Service Engineers work independently, and help train junior colleagues, to create and support the technology that the world relies on to manufacture semiconductor chips and related materials. You'll work beside global customers to install, maintain and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, delivering world-class support for multimillion-dollar production systems.
Role Responsibilities:
- Install leading-edge customer equipment, perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrade equipment
- Use your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, as well as company diagnostic tools and documentation, to solve complex equipment issues
- Generate, follow, and possibly approve documented procedures and published task plans
- Lead projects (when needed), document progress, and communicate with customer and internal business units on progress
- Complete required job documentation, safety training and procedures for processing parts
- Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, using your "customer first" mindset
- Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety, environmental and COVID-19 guidelines
- Train junior engineers on site-related safety, troubleshooting procedures, and developing a customer-first mindset
Requirements and Qualifications:
- An bachelor's degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to bachelor's degree
- 7-10 years of work experience in semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, and an advanced knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and/or thermodynamics
- Clear and effective written/verbal communications skills, with an emphasis on documenting details, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter
- Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters
- Extensive knowledge of Applied Materials systems and company processes
- Project management skills, and an ability to lead key customer and internal product meetings
- You'll need a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport
What to expect:
- You'll be required to travel about 70% - 90% of the time, both domestically and internationally
- Ability to support rotational shifts (e.g., nights and weekends, including holidays when applicable) based on customer needs
- Travel for training and alternate customer sites, based on business needs (may include international travel)

- Additionally, because this position generally involves working in a clean room, it requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields

must have minimum of 2 years hands on semiconductor experience
must have demonstrated ability to use hand tools, calibration equipment, specs and procedures, and strong computer literacy
must be able to travel both domestically and internationally when required.

U.S. Salary Range:
$45.00 - $62.15
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
